Any name that requires the pronounciation to be placed in brackets after it it just wrong.
That would be a tough name to grow up with, at least give him something plain as his middle name so when he gets older he can use that instead. blundery

Sorry, but naming your chiild after a chromosome will get you a lot of negative feedback and incredulous expressions. No kid should be saddled with that. I have a feeling I won’t be alone in this. prairie mom

Ok, I’m all for slightly unusual names and spellings, but PLEASE consider homeschooling if you give this child that name with ANY middle name. Kids can be just cruel! How bout a less unusual first name with Xy as a middle name? Very few kids like their middle names in the teen years, so everyone gets a little teased. Totally different scenario than the bullseye you are about to paint on his forehead!! movingmommafl_tn

Would you SERIOUSLY do that to the poor child? I mean, come on. Be realistic. Is that name really gonna go over well with other kids? That child would most likely go by his middle name. (So at LEAST please give him a normal middle name like Thomas, Isaac or Jack)
But to be brutally honest with you… XY is not a name. XY is two letters. XY is the chromosome, but really is the chromosome THAT important to you unless you REALLY wanted a boy? Even if you did… XY is the worst name I have ever heard. (Right after Urhines Kendall Icy Eight Special K)
Please please don’t. At LEAST make it the child’s middle name! Like Michael XY, Thomas XY, Rhys XY (aka Reese)!
