Did you have so much trouble finding a name for your baby?
I”m ready to throw the baby name books out the window! I’ve looked through every name in the book and none seem to be good enough. I’m having a baby girl and she’s due in two months. Anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions for names? Thanks!

I didn’t finalize my baby name until I was at the hospital one time. I can never use baby books because they either have really common names or really ridiculous ones! for a girl I love the name Annelise Rose I find it majestic Mom of Maya&Baby Brooklynn

Try something unique.

my sister had all boys but what she did was pick 3 names that she could live with and then let the baby decide when she saw them.
what she did was she said a name and if the baby moved or made a sound that was the name she stuck with. for middle names she used family names.
Her sons are named
Cale Thomas
Cayden James
Collin Rex
Logan Wyatt
Gage Matthew
suggestions i have on girls names for you are
Emerson Rose
Hillary Jean
Whitney Danielle
Jennifer Nicole
Reed Noel

I’m in the exact same situation… 31 weeks with a girl and I can’t decide. We have two names - one I like a little more than hubby, one hubby likes a little more than me. The books weren’t helpful at all. I picked a name that I first came across when traveling abroad 10 years ago, my hubby’s name is a name he’s loved forever. We’re waiting until we see her before we officially decide.
My naming criteria was that it ages well, has good nicknames that can be used at work/school (not pet names), is a classic (but can be obscure) name, and that (hopefully) it’s not so popular that she’ll have others in the same class/grade with the name. was really helpful in seeing name trends. You can even view people’s opinions on their own name there.
Looking at popular European names might be helpful if you want something English sounding that’s not overly used in the US. Just a thought. Pegasus79

Sorry to be smug but each of my children had their name as soon as I knew I was pregnant.
Just got lucky, I guess.
If I were you, I’d try to narrow it down to about 3 names you could live with.
When she’s born, one of them will, most likely, suddenly be great.
Take time to carefully think about the name. She will have this name for the next 75-100 years!
1) think about some of the names you’ve liked even a little. Do they tend to be classic and traditional or trendy/fashionable?
This site has nice features in showing meanings and related names like the French version of Camilla is Camille
This site allows you to check how popular/uncommon a name might be (in 2009, Katherine rated #60, Kathryn came in at #215, while Kathleen was down at #564.
2) think about the flow with your surname. A 2-3-2 syllable count is usually very pleasing to the ear (Kathryn Alexa Blackwell for example) as is 3-1-3 (Catherine Jane Amberson). 1-1-1 is harsh, choppy and discordant as in Kay Anne Brown.
3) think about nns (Katy, Kathy, Kitty): are the nns appropriate, cute, friendly, etc?
4) think about the adult: will the name empower her or embarrass her? This is where traditional names hold up better than cutesy, juvenile names (Katy instead of Kathryn) or better than tryndy names or yoo-neek spellings (Kathreighn).
5) double check the initials to avoid things like Amanda Stacia Smithson.
6) RELAX. Nobody with loving parents ever ended up as “Baby Girl Smith” for very long.
Blessings to you and Baby-Within. rubybenubi

Start narrowing it down. Google search specifically for the types of names you like - feminine names, traditional names, unique names, gothic names, short names…. the possibilities are endless so its up to you to narrow the search field.
Keep an ear out for names all the time, in conversations in movie credits - you never know when you might come across the perfect one. Watch for signs, names that stand out to you, that you keep hearing repeatedly for some reason.
Put names on the list even if you’re unsure, give them a week or two and see if they grow on you or not. Sometimes we need time to form associations and to decide how we really feel about a name.
Good luck in your journey. I am going through the same thing with my little girl. Although she isn’t due here until November. Vicarious
