Should we change our baby name because of my brothers dog?
I am due to have a baby any day now and if it’s a girl we have chosen the name Amelia for her. We were planning on calling her Millie for short. Two days ago my brother got his girlfriend a puppy and they have called her Millie. It doesnt bother my husband but everytime my brothers girlfriend talks about her dog it really bugs me! I really don’t want my daughters name to be associated with a dog so I’m wondering should we change our minds?

yes I would. There are wonderful names out there you could pick for her. She will get teased by the mean people for being named after a dog. …

You could still name her Amelia, but call her Mia. *Jadee*(totalité encore)

Talk to them…Explain your problem and see if they will change the dogs name. I would change it for my sister !!

Yes, definitely, no matter how much you say otherwise people will think she was named after the dog, not cool for your little girl or boy.
Good luck with the birth Paul O

If it will really bother you, go ahead, there are many cute names to choose from. Why don’t you have her middle name be Amelia or Millie

i wouldn’t. your brothers dog will die a lot sooner than her, and if you’ve already thought about it a lot, shouldn’t they change their dogs name? (: Haleigh Cat<3

Talk to your brother. If it’s a puppy then it won’t cause it too many problems to change it’s name. If you really wanted to use that name then maybe he would consider changing the name of the dog. AmyV

They called the puppy Millie because it’s a dog’s name, You should be thanking them for not letting you see what a terrible name that would have been for a child, Millie for short LMAO woof woof Dr. D

Did they know that you were hoping to name your child that?
That’s such bad timing, hey!
You could call her Amelia & give her a different nickname?
The other name I like at the moment that is similar, is Aurelia. I would use the nickname Rory.
If your heart is set on Amelia, go for it. But you won’t be able to call her Millie, because you’ll always think of the dog..! So unfair! ♀Sam
