What do you think of this baby name method?
The parents have a list of names that they really like and they have a child and are pregnant with their second so they have the child point to a name on the list and thats what they name the baby. What do you think of this?

As long as the parents like every name on the list, I think that’s an adorable way to pick the name. Then big brother/sister will be able to say they picked their younger siblings name

It could work, but the child would have to be able to read them instead of randomly pointing. At the same time parents should choose the name not the sibling, and plus what if they are on their first child? Who is going to pick for them? SugarAnDSpiceAnDallThingsNiCe

A little bit crazy. What if the name Oswald was on the list? Karlene

i don’t like it….. what if child number two dislikes thier name and resents child number 1 for choosing it as the story will undoughtedly be told about how cute it all was!!
at least with the standard method the child will only end up resenting the parents (which lets be honest is a certanty once they reach adolenence anyway)
sorry

Very twee for a romance novel.
In real life? This is a child they are naming. They should act like adults and make an adult decision about what they think the best name for them is instead of treating it as a cutesy photo opportunity for a child who has no idea what the siginifcance of what he is doing is.
Terrible “method”. cathrl69

It sounds liek a good way to choose a name, giving that they like all the names on the list. I don’t know if I’d like the kid just “pointing” at a name, but if they were to actually choose it it would be a lovely way for the child to establish a bond with the new baby. Would be nice for the child to partake in naming their sibling:D мιℓℓιє♥

It sounds like a great way to get the older siblings involved. Sharisse

I think it depends on how long this list is and how old the kid is. If is like 5 names that the parents love, and the child is old enough to understand names and everything then I think it is fine. However, if there are 20 names or more or the child is too young to get what he/she is doing, then I don’t think that is a good way to do it. Names are special things, and randomly picking a name from a long list seems more lazy than cute. Heather
